TRPS1 is a transcription factor that was initially discovered as being mutated in Tricho-rhino-phalangeal syndrome, a craniofacial and skeletal malformation syndrome. TRPS1 recognizes GATA sequences and represses the activation potential of other GATA factors. In addition, TRPS1 binds to the NuRD complex via CHD4 and can repress other key transcription factors such as p63 and estrogen receptor.
